About the conference
SonoMSK Oslo 2026 was an international conference focusing on musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK ultrasound), diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures.
The conference brought together healthcare professionals with an interest in MSK ultrasound and further education within the field. The programme combined expert lectures with practical hands-on training, live demonstrations and opportunities for questions, discussion and professional networking.
In 2026, parallel sessions were also introduced, allowing participants to choose between different lectures and topics according to their own interests.

Speakers
The conference brought together several internationally recognised experts in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Professor Jon A. Jacobson
Jon A. Jacobson, MD, FACR, is a board-certified musculoskeletal radiologist and clinical professor of radiology at the University of Michigan. He has extensive research and teaching experience in MSK ultrasound and MRI and is the author of Fundamentals of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
Dr. Linda Probyn
Linda Probyn is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Toronto. She has extensive experience in ultrasound and diagnostic radiology and contributed lectures covering topics including wrist and hand ultrasound, tendon injuries and traumatic nerve injuries.
Iñigo Iriarte Posse
Iñigo Iriarte Posse is an orthopaedic rehabilitation consultant at Ars Médica in Bilbao and has extensive experience in MSK ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures. He has also worked with the medical services of Athletic Bilbao FC.
Sandra J. Allison, MD, FACR
Sandra J. Allison is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist and Director of Ultrasound at Washington Radiology. She has special expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and teaches at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Michael Bryant
Michael Bryant is an NHS Consultant in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and a sonographer, with around 30 years of clinical experience in elite sport, musculoskeletal medicine, orthopaedics, rheumatology and pain management.
Scientific programme
The programme covered two days and combined plenary lectures, practical training and parallel sessions.
Topics included calcifying tendinitis and ultrasound-guided treatment, deep gluteal syndrome, ultrasound-guided tendon fenestration, plantar fasciitis, hip and hernia ultrasound, dynamic MSK ultrasound, wrist and hand ultrasound, hamstring injuries, elbow and shoulder ultrasound, as well as traumatic nerve injuries.
A central element of the programme was the combination of lectures with live demonstrations and questions and answers. Both days also included practical hands-on training with supervised scanning.
Practical and social programme
The conference was held at Scandic Helsfyr in Oslo. The hotel is conveniently located at Helsfyr and has good connections by metro and bus.
The first conference day concluded with a conference dinner, while the programme also included several breaks for coffee, professional discussions and networking.
Accreditation
Participation in SonoMSK Oslo 2026 was approved by several professional organisations.
- Norwegian Association of Naprapaths: Participation in the ultrasound conference was approved within the NNF system.
- Norwegian Chiropractic Association: 18 hours of professional continuing education.
- Norwegian Medical Association: 16 points under the previous system as a subject/clinical subject course in radiology, as well as contributions towards several learning objectives under the current system.
- Private Practising Physiotherapists' Association (PFF): 18 hours of continuing professional education and relevant course hours within the specialisation in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

With a combination of international speakers, practical ultrasound training, live demonstrations, parallel sessions and opportunities for professional networking, the conference offered both broad academic content and practical clinical relevance.
